| The PSOE in Cartagena recalls that Joaquín Segado is the person in charge of burying the project of the Temporary Attention Center for Emigrants | The current president of the PP in Cartagena and Spokesman of the Popular Parliamentary group, was responsible for not undertaking the works of the Temporary Attention Center for Emigrants (CATE) during his time as head of the port authority. The current situation that we are experiencing with the wave of boats that the city of Cartagena is suffering shows the clear need for the construction of the CATE (Temporary Attention Center for Emigrants) in the port city. The PSOE in Cartagena recalls that the current PP President in the careful and Spokesman of the Popular Parliamentary Group in the Regional Assembly, Joaquín Segado, is the maximum responsible for having buried the project and not authorizing its construction. Due to this erroneous situation, the city does not have a location to attend to all the migrants who systematically come to our coast year after year, which causes serious security problems that are exacerbated by the health situation we experience throughout the country. Manolo Torres, Secretary General of the PSOE in Cartagena has stated that "We see with amazement the statements of the current PP president in Cartagena and popular spokesman, Joaquín Segado.
Because it must be remembered that when he was president of the Port Authority, he was the person most responsible for bury the CATE project, which, today, would guarantee the safety and health of the people who come in patera and of the residents of the municipality.
" Torres wanted to highlight the commendable work of the state security forces stating "I want to express my respect and admiration for the extraordinary work carried out by the National Police and Civil Guard in their public service work.
Likewise I want to show my appreciation to the work carried out by Maritime Rescue, the NGOs, especially the Red Cross, who work tirelessly to attend to these people who come to our country, and, of course, highlight the enormous effort being carried out by the Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration, which has never before made such a large deployment as it has now done with the humanitarian reception program due to the COVID-19 pandemic " From the PSOE in Cartagena we demand that the political representatives collaborate and if they do not want to do so, they should stop clouding and step aside so as not to hinder the work of health professionals.
