The Center Board of the UPCT School of Telecommunications has returned to vote today, in the third round, to elect the new director of the ETSIT and this time yes, the result has been conclusive, avoiding the resolution of the elections by lottery.
Between Monday and Tuesday the first round was held, with no winner by absolute majority, and yesterday there was a tie in the second round of elections.Professor Alejandro Álvarez Melcón has been definitively elected director of 'Teleco' with the support of 16 of the 29 voters.
The other candidate, the also professor Juan Monzó Cabrera, has obtained 12 votes.
A blank vote has also been recorded.
The Electoral Board of the center will make its official proclamation tomorrow.Alejandro Melcón's candidacy for the ETSIT leadership is also made up of professors María del Camino Rea Rizzo, Juan Carlos Aarnoutse Sánchez, David Cañete Rebenaque, Félix Martínez Viviente and José Abad López."To promote teaching and research in the School of Telecommunications, putting it at the service of the whole of society and especially the members of the School", is the objective declared by the candidacy of Melcón Álvarez, who aspires that all members of the ETSIT "feel part of a common project, fleeing from personal interests and leadership."The former director of the Higher Technical School of Telecommunications Engineering (ETSIT) of the Polytechnic University of Cartagena (UPCT), Juan Ángel Pastor, resigned from the position to apply for the post of Vice-Rector for Teaching and Internationalization in the candidacy for rector of Beatriz Miguel .The elections have been conducted electronically, through the online voting portal that is also being used to renew the position of rector, whose term to participate ends this Friday at 10:00.
