| The level crossing is located on the Chinchilla-Cartagena conventional railway line, at kilometer point 512/473 | The project, awarded for an amount of 52,622.03 euros (VAT included), will analyze and specify the solution to adopt Adif has awarded, for an amount of 52,622.03 euros (VAT included) and an execution period of 12 months, the contract for the drafting of the works project aimed at the suppression of a level crossing located at kilometer point 512 / 473 of the Chinchilla-Cartagena conventional railway line, in the municipality of Pozo Estrecho (Cartagena). The level crossing, protected by interlocking semi-barriers, is 232 meters from the Pozo Estrecho station in the direction of Murcia and corresponds to the junction with the MU-311 county road, which connects the municipalities of La Palma and Pozo Estrecho. The contract, which has been awarded to the company Grusamar Ingeniería y Consulting, includes the performance of the following actions: Topographic and geotechnical studies of the foundation area, construction of structures, embankments and trenches. Assessment of expropriations that may be necessary for the execution of the works. Environmental integration measures of the solution adopted and of the development of the works, considering the affected service areas, loans and discharges of materials. Transverse and longitudinal drainage calculation and stormwater evacuation. Calculation of the firm package necessary to give quality of service to road traffic. Closing of the railway line in the nearby areas, in order to improve the security conditions of the environment. This contract is part of the actions planned by Adif for the suppression and improvement of the protection of level crossings in the Railway Network of General Interest in order to increase the security conditions of transport infrastructure, both for citizens and for traffic.

In this sense, Adif works on the progressive suppression of those level crossings that register the highest intensity of vehicle and train traffic, in accordance with the legislation established in this matter. Likewise, during this process, and in order to guarantee the safety of road and rail traffic at the level crossings in service, actions are planned to improve their protection, while new technologies are being analyzed that allow increase your security.

These actions contribute to the achievement of different Sustainable Development Goals: SDG 3 (Health and Well-being), SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure) and SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities).
