| 'Cartagena is Culture' is a call that was created with the purpose of encouraging and reactivating the cultural sector of Cartagena before the effects caused by coronavirus | The Cartagena City Council launches the call 'Cartagena is Culture', aimed at reviving the cultural sector of the port city by selecting projects developed by artists, associations, companies in the sector and local professional companies, severely punished by the coronavirus crisis, to be hired and be part of the programs of the Department of Culture.

The deadline for submission of projects is ten days, starting Monday June 15.

Those chosen by the evaluation commission will receive 40% of their cost at the signing of the contract and the remaining 60% once completed.The Councilor for the Culture Area, David Martínez Noguera, recalled that “'Cartagena is Culture' aims to identify and organize the map of the cultural sector of the port city, to help these professionals and companies in an immediate way by contributing to the activation of the sector and to generate quality content that improves and expands the municipal offer ”.

Projects related to the municipality's professional theater sector, which are subject to other types of support, are excluded from this call.

This omission does not affect the rest of the performing arts (circus, dance, micro theater, performance ...)The registration and the necessary documentation may be submitted in digital format to the email serviciosculturales@ayto-cartagena.es or printed in different municipal offices such as the General Registry Office, the Decentralization Offices in Neighborhoods and Provincial Councils (OMITAS) or by certified mail .The projects will be chosen by a valuation commission of which the councilor of the Government Area for Culture, Youth and Equality, David Martínez, the Councilor for Culture, Carlos Piñana, the director general of Heritage, Damián Pérez, the director of Culture, Fulgencia Plazas, the coordinator of Culture, Patricio Hernández and two representatives of the Council of Culture of Cartagena.

Also, a municipal official joins who will act as secretary; this one with voice but without vote.The selected projects will be communicated to the interested parties and a minor contract will be signed with them.

The form of payment and invoicing will be made in two installments: 40% at the beginning of the project execution and 60% at the end of the project.

If sanitary conditions prevent the completion of the work during 2020, it will be completed in 2021 when circumstances allow.Professionals, associations, companies and cultural entities, professional associations, and workers in the cultural sector, with fiscal domicile in the city of Cartagena, for whom this call is intended, may only present two projects each, and may be newly created works or already existing, that allow their incorporation into the programs of the Department of Culture.
