| This is the complete remodeling of Saura and Subida San Diego streets, in which 629,010.89 euros will be invested | The local Government Board of the Cartagena City Council, chaired by Mayor Ana Belén Castejón, has given the green light this noon to the first two works that will be carried out with a surplus from the water service.
This is the complete remodeling of Saura and Subida San Diego streets, both located in the historic center of the municipality.
They will invest 629,010.89 euros of an amount of more than 5 million euros in surplus.Taking advantage of the renewal of the sanitation and water supply network, the burial of the telephone and medium-voltage lines will be carried out, the installation of new LED luminaires with 6-meter high arms and arm 1.5 meters, the placement of scuppers to avoid stagnation of water, as well as a uniform polished asphalt pavement, especially indicated to make vehicular and pedestrian traffic compatible.“The Government team's intention is that these streets, despite being of mixed traffic, are more friendly to pedestrians, for this we will reorder traffic as well as the parking area.
Both roads need urgent reform, the sanitation services of both streets are very deteriorated, they have very narrow sidewalks and fiber cement pipes, "said the mayor. The works on these streets will also include the stairs that go up to Sor Francisca Armendáriz, since in both cases they are in very poor condition.
After the works, the stairs will have rustic cobblestone, for which the City Council already has the required permits from the General Directorate of Culture. These works are part of the Comprehensive Plan for the Recovery of the Historic District, which by 2020 has a budget of just over one million euros.
Currently, the plaza next to the Milagrosa building is being completed and the municipal budget also includes investments in Morería Baja and Cerro de Despeñaperros, among other streets.
