| María Dolores Ruiz (MC) will propose, at the meeting of the Council of Culture, that the City Council lead a meeting with other institutions to program events that minimize the impact of Covid-19 in the sector | Given the situation of economic and social crisis linked to the pandemic caused by Covid-19, a new scenario opens up where the cultural panorama of the municipality of Cartagena practically starts from scratch.
Due to this, MC Cartagena considers it necessary to promote the possibility of joint cultural action, in order to reactivate the offer as long as strict compliance with the relevant sanitary measures is guaranteed. Along these lines, the councilor for the Cartagena formation, María Dolores Ruiz, has pointed out that "the main cultural institutions of the municipality should join forces to alleviate the wasteland that is coming upon us, with festivals, exhibitions, presentations and other interrupted initiatives." This initiative will be contributed by MC at the next meeting of the Culture Council to be held on the 11th of this month.
Ruiz added that "the Cartagena City Council should propose a meeting where cultural institutions based in the city, such as MURAM, ARQUA or the Roman Theater, among others, are convened in order to coordinate joint actions that offer an alternative to the Cartagena in the face of the current cultural blackout ". This proposal is that it is possible to go where a single institution cannot, promoting cultural activities in the open air and not condemning Cartagena's boredom, since it is still possible to offer interesting initiatives for the coming months. "Other localities linked to culture such as Almagro, with its famous theater festival, have not interrupted their programming, while in Cartagena everything has been suspended and, on the other hand, nothing has been offered in return," concluded the mayor.
