Precisamente, para aliviar el grave deterioro del empleo en el sector servicios, concretamente en la hostelería, el Ayuntamiento ha optado por modificar la ordenanza de vía pública eximiendo así del pago de tasas de terrazas, venta ambulante y kioskos hasta diciembre de 2020, con el objetivo de paliar la falta de ingresos de autónomos y pymes y fomentar la contratación.Del mismo modo, se ha incluido en el Fondo Social del Agua a pequeños empresarios como beneficiarios del abono del recibo de agua y basura, mientras dure el Estado de Alarma para ayudarles a reducir al máximo los costes mientras han estado cerrados y que durante la desescalada puedan aumentar el número de contrataciones.En cuanto al número de ERTES, en empresas instaladas en el municipio de Cartagena se han tramitado un total de 1.856, el 13,26% de la Región, y han afectado a 11.306 trabajadores (5.043 mujeres y 6.263 hombres).

Educativas/Deportivas/Inmobiliarias22%Comercio al por menor16%Industria13,56%Tal y como ha reconocido la alcaldesa en innumerables ocasiones, el peso del sector turístico en el municipio es muy importante y uno de cada cuatro ERTES se ha producido en establecimiento hoteleros y hosteleros.

Hoteles y restaurantes fueron los primeros en cerrar y serán los últimos en volver a recuperar la normalidad.

En el caso de los hoteles se ha llegado a un acuerdo con todo el sector para lanzar una campaña de compra de bonos anticipada, con el objetivo de que las empresas obtengan liquidez aún estando cerradas y puedan empezar a sacar trabajadores de los ERTES, evitando así despidos.La alcaldesa ha explicado las medidas tomadas por el Ayuntamiento de Cartagena para paliar los efectos de esta crisis en la ciudadanía, destacando el incremento de las rentas básicas concedidas durante la pandemia, que ascienden a 94, y los numerosos programas creados desde la Agencia de Desarrollo Local y Empleo (ADLE) para incentivar la búsqueda activa de empleo, así como formaciones y talleres de reciclaje.
