The Coronavirus crisis is creating very serious consequences.
From the PCE-PCRM and the Communist Youth of the Region of Murcia we want to denounce a new attack against the rights of the working class.
This time it is a case of labor exploitation perpetrated by almost twenty agricultural owners in the Cartagena countryside who were taking advantage of the irregular situation of migrants in the territory. The exploiters collected the migrants in private vans to make them work on their farms in exchange for salaries ranging from € 150 to € 200 per month without also complying with the sanitary measures established against COVID19.
Migrants, in an irregular situation, have found themselves totally unprotected against unscrupulous businessmen who have not hesitated to turn them into cannon fodder so that they suffer the harshest consequences that capitalism generates, working in inhumane conditions for a salary that is it is far from what is stipulated by law and even what is necessary to survive. But the sentence of these workers does not end here, although due to the current state of alarm, the CIEs are closed, due to their irregular situation, it is likely that there will be an expulsion file that forces them to leave the country in a short period of time.
weather. Therefore, from the PCE-PCRM and the Communist Youth of the Region of Murcia we demand an "effective regulation" of migrants, who in this health and economic crisis "has been shown to be necessary and fair" because the exceptional situation that we live demands exceptional measures.
We also ask that the institutions and social agents guarantee the necessary measures so that the people who go to work in the agrarian campaigns have the health, social, housing and transport guarantees that avoid situations that endanger the progress of the fight against coronavirus.
