| This is an initiative conceived by the Office of the European Parliament in Spain to give visibility to women in public spaces | Real equality remains a pending issue, both in institutions and in society.
Proof of this is that the presence of women at political summits, conferences or debates is still very small, compared to the number of men who comprise them.
For this reason, the Cartagena City Council has joined the initiative # DondeEstánEllas, conceived by the Office of the European Parliament. The objective is to give visibility to the presence of women in public spaces.
In this way, the signatories of # DondeEstánEllas commit to carry out an internal count that analyzes each year how many women experts as speakers have participated in their events, with the commitment to progressively improve the number. From the Department of Equality, which proposed joining this initiative, they consider it very important to “continue to encourage and encourage women, especially among those of younger generations and also of different abilities, to participate in public debates, conferences or symposia and promote in institutional communication, both on the web and on our social networks, this campaign to value all women under the common motto 'Where are they?' ”, as explained by area councilor David Martínez.
