| Starting Monday, and until next week, the Civil Protection personnel will be in charge of the surveillance and protection of bathers | The 26 beaches with bathing allowed in the municipality will have lifeguards from June 8.
From this Monday, June 1 and until then, a device made up of Civil Protection officers will be in charge of the surveillance and protection of bathers. This is due to the anticipation of the Cartagena City Council regarding the tender for the surveillance and rescue contract on the beaches.
“Cartagena has been the first major municipality in the Region to reactivate the contracting table by telematic procedure.
The tireless work of the technicians, together with their reaction capacity and professionalism, has allowed this to go ahead and we can count on vigilance on our beaches during the summer season, ”explained the councilor delegate for Recruitment, María Amoraga. In addition, the mayor stressed that "at first the local government team was criticized for continuing this tender during the State of Alarm.
And yet, thanks to the forecast of this City Council, this summer we will be able to count on a surveillance and rescue service on our beaches ”.For its part, it should be noted that some of the innovations included in this contract are the reinforcement of the west coast, with two more checkpoints on the Chapineta beach, in La Azohía, and on the Corral beach, located on Isla Plana.
