The City Council manages to reduce the average payment period to suppliers to 17 days (31/05/2020)

| During the worst two months of the pandemic, the City Council of Cartagena has paid 10,570,223.5 million euros in invoices to suppliers | Since the beginning of the State of Alarm, the Cartagena City Council has made an important effort to alleviate the damages that this sanitary crisis could cause in the companies of the municipality.

In this way, the Council has managed to reduce the average payment period to suppliers to 17 days.

In fact, at the end of February this average stood at 37.61 days and, at the end of April, the payment period is 16.72 days.During the worst two months of the pandemic, the City Council paid a total of 10,570,223.5 million euros in supplier invoices, 6,120,251.24 in April and 4,449,972.26 in March."For the business community, the health crisis has caused a serious setback, so the main concern of this government team has been, and continues to be, to make things as easy as possible for them to overcome in the shortest possible time.

That is why, among other measures, we have managed to reduce the supplier payment period by 20 days, ”reported the mayor, Ana Belén Castejón.In these two months, the 2020 Municipal Budget has also been approved, thus becoming the first of the three major municipalities of Since the beginning of the State of Alarm, the Cartagena City Council has made an important effort to mitigate the damages that this crisis the Region in having it.

"In times of economic and health uncertainty, we are the first major city in the Region to have a budget, with which we seek to provide stability and certainty to both citizens, as well as groups and businessmen," said Castejón.AID TO BUSINESSMEN AND SELF-EMPLOYEDLikewise, the local government has modified the Ordinance of Occupation of Public Roads to exempt, until the end of the year, from the payment of rates for terraces to hoteliers, the rate of kiosks, as well as the rate of occupation of positions in street markets.Self-employed and SMEs affected by the pandemic have also been included in the Social Water Fund, so that they are exempted, for the duration of the Alarm State, from paying for both garbage and water.

Likewise, it has been possible to approve in the Water Monitoring Commission hydraulic works for an amount of almost 6 million euros and the proposal to reduce to 50% of the fee for the installation of beach bars on the beaches of the municipality is being finalized.Among the measures to help the business community, the agreement reached with the hoteliers for the implementation of a Regional Tourism Promotion Plan also stands out, which includes the acquisition by the City Council of 1,000 hotel nights, with the objective of to inject liquidity into the sector.Similarly, the regulations for the Business Nursery for Women have been modified so that businesswomen who have been affected by the pandemic can establish their businesses in these municipal facilities.Also worthy of note is the start-up of the Office of Attention to SMEs and businesses to advise them on channeling aid, subsidies and tax advantages offered by different administrations.
