| The municipal Corporation joins the initiative of the Government of the Nation after decreeing ten days of mourning | The mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón, accompanied by spokespersons for the municipal groups and councilors of the Corporation, kept a minute of silence in memory of those who died during the COVID19 pandemic this afternoon. With this they have joined the call made by the Government of the Nation, which yesterday decreed ten days of official mourning throughout the Spanish state.
She has also been followed from her offices by municipal public employees, whom Castejón had invited to second the gesture. As a consequence of the state mourning, the City Council has lowered the flag of Spain flying at half-mast on the esplanade of the port.It should be remembered that the official flags of the municipal offices were already flying at half-staff and with black crepes inside, due to the declaration of mourning decreed on April 3 by the Regional Government, and which is still in force.
