In view of the concentrations and demonstrations that are being convened and carried out throughout Spain and in our City, the Yay @ flutes of Cartagena can not help but MANIFEST that it is very true that the Alarm State does not restrict, nor should it, the legitimate right to protest (NO to hate speech), a right protected by the Constitution and the laws that develop it, but we believe that they should be carried out under the parameters of respect for others, lack of everything type of violence and compliance with the protection measures against the coronavirus COVID-19.

In many of the latest mobilizations all these red lines are being crossed, which alarms us, and a lot. In addition to the enormous concern with which we see the evident escalation of violence by very specific groups, we note that, at a time when the situation of sanitary precariousness created by COVID-19 has not been overcome, there is no need to risk the most precious common good for all, health.

We say it precisely the most vulnerable group and that is that, although the situation has improved, it is a long way from being resolved.

The health authorities do not fail to warn of the danger posed by a more than likely outbreak of the epidemic, so we also do not understand certain hurries and the conversion into a sprint race of the steps to follow in de-escalation of the different restrictions that we have been suffering.

As a group, the Yay @ flutes of Cartagena do not forget the claims that have had us and will have us in the streets for years; We have not forgotten the urgent need for the improvement of public health or the revision of the operation of nursing homes and dependents, and its improvement and reversion to the public system among many other demands; We are not only moved by the strengthening of the public pension subsystem and the improvement of the minimum and non-contributory ones.

But as citizens who have endured and helped to bear the consequences of the previous crisis, we believe that it is now convenient to adapt our actions and demands to the times that have come. We want to transmit a message of serenity to society as a whole; we are a responsible collective, we are part of this same society and as such our luck is linked to all of it, although the consequences of the pandemic are in many cases deadly for us, and we are not willing to sacrifice our health, even life, or that of our families and our fellow citizens for economic, political or electoral reasons. We insist on the recommendation not to play with health and follow the instructions of the health authorities and health workers and not to go, at this time, to any concentration or demonstration that could even bring us closer to the possibility of contagion , or infecting ours and our elders.
