| It will monitor traffic and low-emission areas in the municipality of Cartagena | The Department of Sustainable City and European Projects will launch a Smart City platform for traffic control and low-emission areas in the municipality of Cartagena that will allow further progress in environmental policies and sustainable mobility, through the European CEF project Telecom Open Data where the Cartagena City Council has been a beneficiary along with six European cities in Germany, Belgium and France.With a budget of 93,308 euros, the delegate councilor, Cristina Mora, explained that "this is a project for the application of Smart city concepts that will increase the sensors for air quality, noise and pedestrian gauging that we already have in Cartagena, and apply that data using artificial intelligence techniques to make the best decisions in the field of urban mobility and its relationship with the environment, mainly in the reduction of polluting emissions and the fight against climate change.
”Mora recalled that "in Cartagena we have three sensors installed in the Port of Cartagena, the bus station and Plaza San Francisco and this new application will give us a comprehensive vision to meet the established challenges and advance in a more sustainable, efficient and green, through the generation of new green zones, zones 20 and 30, communication with citizens on the impact of climate change, air quality and the promotion of urban mobility.Since the problems are largely common to different European cities, this project presents an ambitious approach to share experiences between 6 large European cities in various countries, taking from Spain to the city of Cartagena.The most important result of the project will be the module with the ability to predict, model and understand the dynamics of the city, for a better performance, planning and agile development of improvement actions on it.
