| The vice mayor and head of the Social Welfare area visited this Friday the facilities of the Hospitality of Santa Teresa and Coto Dorda where Refuge is given to people in situations of exclusion | The Cartagena City Council will work together with the Autonomous Community, Cáritas and La Huertecica to maintain aid to the homeless people welcomed in the municipality from the beginning of the confinement and to take advantage of “the great advances in integration and health that professionals have achieved with a group of people in a situation of extreme exclusion ”, according to the vice mayor and head of the Social Care area, Noelia Arroyo.Arroyo has visited the two shelters established to house fifty people "homeless" in the Hospitality of Santa Teresa and Coto Dorda and thanked the work that La Huertecica and Cáritas are developing in both centers thanks to the support of the Ministry of Social Policy .The need for confinement has allowed social workers and professionals in the fight against drug addiction to have had an unforeseen opportunity to develop treatments and more stable care with the people who make up the group with the highest social exclusion.The Deputy Mayor stressed that "the majority of these 50 people have reconnected with their family, have resumed abandoned medical treatments and have begun social itineraries to improve their training, job search and access to decent housing."To achieve this, coordination between the regional and local administration and the Social Entities that work throughout the year to improve the quality of life of the homeless has been essential.
"It has been possible to put these people at the starting point to change the situation of exclusion in which they find themselves and we are going to work with the same coordination so that so much work well done can continue helping the integration of these people."The deputy mayor has personally thanked the president of the La Huertecica collective, Diego Cruzado, and the coordinator of Cáritas in Cartagena, Petri García, it is the effort of both entities in this reception device that the council activated in an emergency when the state of alarm was declared.To achieve the confinement in both accommodations, the staff of the Department of Social Services in the Service of Homeless People and Passers-by was counted on and the collaboration for the location of many of these people from entities such as the Caritas Social Dining Room, Red Cross, Local Police and Civil Protection.
