| It has representation from all municipal political groups, in addition to unaffiliated councilors | The Special Commission for Suggestions and Claims of the Cartagena City Council was constituted last Thursday for the first time since its creation in 2006.
It was through a telematic meeting that was attended by all the members of the commission, among which are all the municipal political groups together with the non-attached councilors, with a weighted vote according to representativeness. The president of the Commission, the deputy mayor Manuel Padín, opened the meeting thanking all the attendees and especially the technicians and the people who have enabled the constitution of the body to be carried out.
And, as he recalled, the commission had never been established since it was created as mandated by the Plenary in 2006. "Despite the urgency that concerns us, as is the case of the coronavirus, this City Council has shown that we must continue with the day to day," explained the deputy mayor, who asked all parties "that we are not able to see the straw in someone else's eye and not seeing the beam in ours ".
In this way, the president of the Commission trusted that the members of this body are capable of "not blaming anyone, something that we should all follow in these difficult times, and not use these issues to make political propaganda." Among its functions, included in its own regulations, the Commission must supervise the activity of the municipal administration and report to the plenary, through an annual report, on the complaints presented and the deficiencies observed in the operation of the municipal services.
In addition, extraordinary reports may also be made when the severity or urgency of the events so advise. In this sense, all the organs of Government and of the municipal Administration are obliged to collaborate with this commission by appointing a person who will be the liaison with the Technical and Administrative Unit of the same.Citizens can present their suggestions or claims addressed to this Commission through a procedure available at the municipal electronic office.
