| The issue was discussed during the videoconference meeting that Ana Belén Castejón held this Friday with the president of the Autonomous Community and other mayors of the Region | The mayor, Ana Belén Castejón, has asked the president of the Autonomous Community, Fernando López Miras, during the meeting they have had with the rest of the mayors of the Region, to launch a Family Conciliation Plan, with a sufficient budget , to facilitate reconciliation after the decision to keep the schools closed until next year.“There are many families with young children who are having serious difficulties in coping with this situation because parents have to get to work, luckily, and they have no one to leave the children with.
It is a question that worries me a lot and to which we must respond immediately ”, highlighted Castejón.The Mayor has emphasized the need to support women in this situation.
“We cannot consent that, once again, women are the ones who renounce their incorporation to work to take care of children.
That would be an inconceivable step back in the 21st century.
We must provide facilities so that both parents can reconcile, not only women, "he said.In this same sense, the mayor has shown her concern for the summer schools that the City Council traditionally organizes and that should be put out to tender immediately for its celebration in July and August.
"We need to have certainty to know if they will allow us to celebrate the summer schools before calling them and under what conditions they can be held," said Ana Belén Castejón.On the other hand, the mayor was also concerned about the possible arrival of citizens from other municipalities to the coasts of Cartagena, taking advantage of the fact that in Phase 1 of Descaling, mobility and travel to second residences are allowed.
For this reason, it has once again insisted on the need for intensified controls to guarantee that no population arrives from other locations outside the Region. He also stressed that Cartagena is going to strengthen the police presence both on the coast and in the center to avoid crowds of citizens and ensure that the rules of social distancing set by the Government of Spain are met.The mayor has also asked the regional government for more details on the measures to be adopted to adapt the beaches for use in Phase III.
"Time passes and we hope to be in Phase III in June, but we need to know what measures we must take to be prepared when the time comes to open our beaches," he explained. It has also requested information on the minimum vital income.
"Apparently we will have to manage the municipalities and we need more information on this issue."
