| This Monday, the first day of phase 1 of de-escalation, the blind has been raised by 20 percent of hospitality businesses with permission to do so | The city begins to take steps towards normality with the opening of bars, shops and markets, a fact that members of the municipal government team have witnessed this Monday, May 11, who have verified the good progress of this incorporation of Cartagena to phase 1 of the de-escalation.Thus, the mayor, Ana Belén Castejón, accompanied by the councilor of the Treasury Area, Esperanza Nieto, and the president of COEC, Ana Correa, checked how the terraces of the bars began to function from early in the morning, "in Cartagena they have been encouraged to open 20 percent of the businesses that could do it, as they have informed us from Hostecar, and we understand that it is a complicated situation, so from the city council we are going to help them so that they have clear regulations and steps to follow".Once verified that the establishments comply with the safety and hygiene standards, the Mayor has encouraged the public, always taking extreme precaution and putting into practice social distancing measures, to invest in Cartagena, “now it is time to help us and, respecting the phases of confinement, going out, spending, supporting merchants and hoteliers, even when planning our vacations, doing it in this area, rediscovering the city ”.The first mayor, who has had words of thanks for the businessmen of the sector, has also recalled the effort that, from the City Council, is being made to support them, with a wide battery of exemptions that will suppose a sacrifice for the municipal coffers by affecting income.
In this sense, Castejón has reiterated that "now it is time to help the sector to try to return to normality by the end of the year, something that we do not have to do alone, but with the help of the regional government and the national government."Plan for the opening of the beachesThe mayor, Ana Belén Castejón, has announced that from the different areas of the municipal government, from Tourism and Infrastructure and the Coastline to Celebrations and Culture, a plan is being studied to enable the 40 kilometers of beaches on the Cartagena coast for the summer.According to Castejón, all the municipalities of the coastal municipalities of the Region agree that "there is not much time left for the arrival of summer and, therefore, we have to define the rules of the game as soon as possible."
