The reforms that are being carried out include improvements in irrigation infrastructures and their control, the adaptation of soils and the substitution of invasive and non-native plants for indigenous plants, are giving a spectacular result that, soon, will be a unique natural framework for the archaeological park of the Roman Forum and its future museum.Echyum candicans, Stipa tenacissima, Festuca glauca, Asteriscus maritimus, Limonium caesium, Salvia farinacea, Salvia microphylla, Convolvulus cneorum, Nerium oleander `petit salmon´, Lobularia maritima are among the species that are being used in this unique surface reform of the Molinete windmill.
, Genista umbellata, Armeria maritima, Rosmarinus officinalis `postratus´, Lavandula dentata, Lavandula latifolia, Lotus creticus, Lampranthus sp, Messembryanthemum sp, Ruschia lineolata, along with olive and carob trees."The joint work of landscapers and gardeners, along with this type of plants and our climate, are changing, little by little, the configuration of some corners of our municipality," said the councilman. In the coming weeks, road adaptation and accessibility work will also be undertaken, using traditional techniques.
Specific, but continuous, actions are being carried out in agreement between technicians from Gardens and the archaeological direction of the Roman Forum. These works are also being carried out in other green areas of Cartagena, such as Plaza Héroes de Cavite or Plaza de la Isla.
“Unlike other services, this is slow but very rewarding work; especially for this team of technicians and gardeners who are creating new prints for our city ”, concluded Torralba.
