| The researcher at Agrónomos affirms that green areas in cities can inactivate numerous particles, including viruses | "The current situation caused by the emergence of COVID-19 is the result of our alteration of the natural environment and its ecological balance, especially in urban settings."This is stated by Jesús Ochoa, professor at the School of Agronomists of the Polytechnic University of Cartagena (UPCT).
Ochoa claims the importance of green areas in large cities for its "decisive capacity to retain and inactivate numerous particles, including viruses."The researcher claims the importance of trees for "ecosystem services", that is, for the direct benefits that the natural system provides to people.
Ochoa forcefully states that «all current environmental problems have a common root: the alteration of the natural ecological balance.Urban trees are decisive for the removal of pollutants present in the atmosphere, according to Ochoa, researcher at the UPCT Mediterranean Horticultural Group.
For this reason, the greenest cities, those with the greatest awareness of these issues, "will be the best prepared to face future environmental and human health problems."
