The City Council, through the Department of Education, has delivered this Monday about half a thousand batches of school and recreational material for boys and girls aged between 2 and 14 years.
Specifically, these are 495 lots of drawing, painting and entertainment that are being distributed as of this same Monday, May 4, among minors at risk in the municipality of Cartagena.The initiative has been launched with municipal funds, as well as with solidarity donations from companies and groups such as FCC, the concessionary company for the cleaning of educational centers, and the Cartagena Rugby School.
Thus, 165 of these lots have been donated by the FCC, 46 by the Rugby Club and the remaining 284 have been borne by the Cartagena City Council."We are aware that this period of confinement is being very hard, also for the little ones," said the mayor of Education, Irene Ruiz, who has expressed her gratitude to FCC and the Rugby School for their solidarity contributions."We believe that, in addition to their homework, children should spend time developing creativity and imagination and with these materials we consider that we can help them deal with this situation in a more fun way," said Irene Ruiz.
The initiative seeks that those families who are experiencing a situation of social vulnerability these days can have playful material for the little ones, with which children can enjoy leisure time, as well as complete their schoolwork.In this way, the lots, which have been divided between materials for Early Childhood Education and Primary Education, include drawing books, scissors, markers and pomperos, among other materials.
In turn, the mayor wanted to show his appreciation for the work carried out by the volunteers of the Social Emergency Operation, who are in charge of delivering it to families with children this week.
