| The complete completion of the tests will not be recorded and will be replaced by real-time supervision by videoconference | After the opening on April 8 of the process of modifying the evaluation systems of their degrees in order to adapt to the exceptional nature of the situation derived from the pandemic, finally only 10% of the UPCT subjects will keep the door open to a hypothetical face-to-face evaluation during the month of July after the completion of the EBAU.
The introduction of continuous assessment during the school period has reduced the weight of traditional exams in the final grade, which has encouraged that a large part of teachers have opted for this modality.
Although the de-escalation deadlines announced by the Government confirm that there would be some possibility of conducting face-to-face tests in July, the decision adopted by the vast majority of teachers allows to eliminate uncertainties for students about dates and modality of exam.
Regarding the realization of the tests, in addition to the option of oral exams, random questionnaires, or the realization of open problems, the UPCT works in a real-time supervision system for some of the tests through videoconference in groups of 15 -20 students simultaneously. The Vice Chancellor for ICT, Mathieu Kessler, has indicated that “following the recommendations of CRUE, too intrusive options for students have been ruled out, such as biometric controls or the recording of the complete test for subsequent review, since the objective has been at all times that the supervision is as similar as possible to the surveillance that teachers in the classrooms have usually been carrying out ”.
In the Governing Council held on April 30, the new Academic Honesty Regulations have also been approved, as well as modifications in the evaluation regulations that accommodate this non-attendance modality for the exams, including new aspects such as the possibility of reviewing the examination by the student via videoconference once the notes have been published.
Regarding the teaching development plans for the next academic year, a meeting with the heads of Centers and Departments is scheduled for next Monday in order to discuss alternatives to decrease the student's classroom presence, while they are implemented risk prevention protocols linked to COVID-19, such as reducing the capacity in classrooms and laboratories.
