The Councilor for Citizen Security, Juan Pedro Torralba, thanked this gesture and what it represents, since the only way to get out of this crisis is "collaborating all together and with responsibility."Solidarity Mask is the name under which nearly 400 people have gathered who in Cartagena dedicate themselves to making masks in a selfless way to protect themselves from the coronavirus.
The initiative came from the former owner of La Ballena Azul, Toņi Brau, who had a remnant of fabrics.
Seamstresses and volunteers quickly joined the cause, reaching the current 400 who from their homes manufacture a model of reusable mask and filter, for which they have had the advice of doctors and health professionals, who guarantee its effectiveness.They have already made about 50,000 masks that they have been donating to organizations, associations and institutions, although their main problem is obtaining the materials for their manufacture, for which they have the support of the García Andreo brothers, from Tejidos Santa Ana.
made and before packaging, the masks are disinfected with ozone by the Civil Protection service of the City of Cartagena.Their goal is to continue making more masks, so that no one is left without protection.
