The Government Board approves the rental of a second shelter for victims of sexist violence (25/04/2020)

| The 2020 Social Water Fund has also been given the green light, which includes as beneficiaries the self-employed who have been forced to close by the State Alarm The Governing Board of the Cartagena City Council met yesterday afternoon, Friday, April 24, under the chairmanship of the mayor, Ana Belén Castejón, to approve the lease of a second home to be used as a shelter for women victims of sexist violence. The contract, which will enter into force next May, will be valid for one year, renewable up to a maximum of 5, for an amount of 7,150 euros per year. The Board also approved the Social Water Fund for 2020, which is endowed with 350,000 euros.

"The main novelty that we have included this year is that the beneficiaries of this fund will not be exclusively people in vulnerable situations accredited by Social Services, but rather the self-employed who have been forced to close their businesses by the Decree of the State of Alarm, SMEs and merchants will also be able to participate, ”explained the mayor.Similarly, the settlement of 543,273.60 euros corresponding to Hidrogea's surplus from January to April 2019 was approved.

This amount will be added to the 5,176,277.18 euros already settled, which amounts to a total of 5,750,000 euros, which, after going through the water monitoring commission, will be used in sanitation and network improvement works. The definitive project that will allow continuing with the La Manga bike path, which is framed in the EDUSI La Manga Abierta 365 strategy, was also approved, and it will be financed with FEDER funds. On the other hand, the green light was given to the processing of the project of a new electronic administration ordinance to adapt it to current needs.
