| The objective is to guarantee jobs and reduce a deficit of one million euros | The government team and the company committee of Cartagena Puerto de Culturas have agreed this Thursday, April 23, to launch a Temporary Employment Regulation File (ERTE).In a meeting held in the councilors' hall of the City Hall, with the deputy mayor and councilor for the Tourism area, Manuel Padín, the councilor delegate, Cristina Pérez, and the mayor of Culture, David Martínez; They have informed the representatives of the workers of the company that the ERTE will affect 95% of the workforce, leaving a small number of Administration workers out of it, as of May 1.The objective of the local government is to guarantee the continuity of jobs and reduce a deficit that could approach one million euros to ensure the survival of the network of museums in Cartagena, which is strategic to maintain the tourism sector of the municipality. In this sense, at the meeting the income recorded last year in the months of March (157,000 euros), April (228,000 euros) and May (238,000 euros) was put on the table, while this year they have been reduced to half in March and have dropped to zero in April and, predictably, in May.
This situation leads to the forecast that the economic hole at the end of the year could reach a million euros, if the ERTE was not carried out.Likewise, the creation of a Monitoring Commission has been agreed so that, once a month, the evolution of the health crisis meets and analyzes in order to move forward and be prepared and return to normal when the alarm ends. From the Government team, the workers have been informed that as the situation evolves, the City Council will study possible measures to compensate for the reduction in salary during these months, since the ERTE guarantees the collection of 70% of the salary. Finally, from the government team it has been clarified that the decision to start the ERTE has been adopted this Thursday morning, and not before, jointly between workers and the City Council.
