"I did not expect that the quarantine would be so long, fortunately, I already have all my notes"
To Javier, Franz and Pedro, the confinement caught them almost by surprise.
All three, students of the Polytechnic University of Cartagena (UPCT), reside outside Cartagena, so for their comfort, during the academic year they live in different rental flats in the port city.
However, what was originally going to be a "I take the essentials, I am going to visit the family on the weekend" became a "I cannot leave the house to pick up my things from my apartment for rent" .The decree of the State of Alarm and the successive extensions in the confinement caused that, like Javier, Franz and Pedro, dozens of UPCT students in the same situation only had part of their notes and their clothes in the family home, so that, among other things, it was difficult for them to advance in all the subjects of the race.
Fortunately, many of them have already been able to go to their flats to collect their belongings, thanks to an authorization for the Government Delegation to move, which has been processed by the University.
"They said about the confinement on a Saturday, I usually go home on Fridays, but as there was already a rumor, I took the notes that I was going to do the most, but not all of them," recalls Pedro José López, who is a 3rd-year student. Electronic, Industrial and Automatic Engineering and that is from Caravaca. Something similar happened to Franz Espinoza, from 1st of Electronic, Industrial and Automatic Engineering.
He is from Albox (Almería) and assures that the quarantine was not expected to be so long.
According to what he indicates, when the confinement began to lengthen, he was overwhelmed when he saw that he had his notes in Cartagena and that he could not leave his town to go and collect them.
"The teachers press and you see that you cannot follow them if you don't have the books and write them down, for me it was very necessary to be able to go back for everything," he says.
However, he states that the student delegate has been informing them of all the procedures that were being done so that they could go for their belongings.
Who has not yet been able to go to collect their belongings is Javier Campuzano, also a 1st year student of Civil Engineering, and who is from Murcia.
In his case, he has requested authorization to move on April 21.
"At first I took some books home, when the confinement began to lengthen, I was more concerned with the subject of classes and practices," he says, noting that since the situation is lengthening, he will collect "everything". He left on the floor. The students have been concerned about how this situation will evolve, especially because their rental contracts last until mid-July, in some cases, so, as Pedro José López says, "if we had to go to do tests in Cartagena after that date, many of us would have to see what we do when living so far away. "
However, the important thing, they indicate, is that they already have all their belongings with them.
