This morning, the spokesperson for the MC Cartagena Municipal Group, José López, assessed the meeting held yesterday by the local government with the Cartagena Regional Confederation of Business Organizations (COEC) and the Chamber of Commerce, a meeting that resulted in a willingness to act, in summary, they collect what MC exposed last Wednesday as amendments to the 2020 budget and which were rejected by the Executive of Castejón and Arroyo.
That day, MC Cartagena presented a battery of concrete and argued proposals to revitalize the social and business fabric in the municipality and mitigate the effects of the economic crisis that we will have to face as a consequence of the health crisis we are experiencing.
Actions that respond to what was claimed yesterday by the employers and that were vetoed by the short-sightedness of the local government and the obstructionist vocation regarding the initiatives defended by the Cartagena formation,

In this way, MC Cartagena proposed, in clear harmony with business groups, after what was evident yesterday, to nullify the rise in the Real Estate Tax (IBI) for 2020 in compliance with the judgment of March 13 of the Court of the administrative litigation 1 of Cartagena.
In addition, the Cartagena training defended the need to execute a Special Contingency Plan, which would include, among others:
The discount on water and garbage receipts for both SMEs as freelancers and citizens who have seen their income reduced by the Alarm State;
exemption from the terrace fee;
exemption from the beach bar fee;
the suspension of market rates;
as well as the exemption of the tax for stop of auto taxis or the rates to the kiosks.
In the same way, an increase in social spending and a Citizen Aid Plan (1,500,000 euros) are advocated;
an Aid Plan for SMEs and the self-employed (400,000 euros);
the revitalization plans' Cartagena Viva '(200,000 euros) and' Cartagena Moves (200,000 euros), and a Contingency Plan for the Mar Menor Sur valued at 500,000 euros.
"Cartagena cannot afford not to make decisions because it is proposed by MC"
The municipal spokesman for MC Cartagena, José López, has reported that "the business representatives of our region yesterday demanded the implementation of concrete measures to alleviate the effects of the crisis caused by the coronavirus."
Faced with this situation, he recalled that "this claim coincides with the battery of proposals put forward by MC and that last Wednesday we transferred it to the Plenary, measures that included, among others, nullifying the rise in the IBI, reducing the salary of councilors and high charges to allocate it to bonuses and, of course, tax exemptions, to increase social spending and direct aid to SMEs and the self-employed ", regretting that" all were rejected by a government without a project, without ideas and without reflections, which lives oblivious to the reality, and whose only response has been to raise taxes on all Cartagena and not touch their salary. "
López explained that "we are more concerned than ever about their ineptitude, but also about their iniquity; they have shown that they are capable of not making decisions because they are proposed by MC or because they do not include a photo album, and Cartagena cannot afford it."
"We are going for a year of this 'Trinca' and it is all bad news, the ones that provoke by action and the ones that cause us by omission, and every time we have to make decisions or delay them or make them wrong."
José López ended by criticizing that "they have neither the democratic culture nor the humility to let themselves be guided by those who reach out with solutions, without asking for anything in return", wishing lastly that "it is not too late when they open their eyes and start helping Cartagena and not themselves.
