The City Council streamlines projects to accelerate investments and prepares an impulse plan for economic recovery (13/04/2020)

The Cartagena City Council is already working on the investment projects it wants to carry out, with the aim of starting public works as soon as possible and thus contributing to revitalize the local economy, while preparing an Economic Reactivation Plan and of Commerce in close collaboration with businessmen, as explained this morning by the mayor, Ana Belén Castejón, in the meeting she held with the president of the Confederation of Business Organizations, Ana Correa;

the president of the Chamber of Commerce, Miguel Martínez;

the vice mayor, Noelia Arroyo, and the deputy mayor, Manuel Padín.

"We have approved the largest budget in public investment and the municipal technicians are already working on the drafting of projects, with the aim of starting them as soon as the health situation allows.

The City Council is not standing still, we are aware that we need to reactivate the economy when all this happens and we are preparing all the tools that are within our reach to achieve it â€, highlighted Castejón.

In this same sense, the City Council is going to prepare a Boost Plan for the Economic Reactivation with special emphasis on the sectors most affected by the crisis, such as the hotel, hotel and commercial sectors, among others.

The objective of the government team is to implement concrete measures agreed with the businessmen.

“We are clear that now more than ever we must go hand in hand.

Entrepreneurs and administration must agree on concrete measures that are feasible and that respond to real needs.

In this sense, from the Government team we know that it is necessary and urgent to continue advancing in the drafting of the new General Urban Planning Plan because, without a doubt, it will be a key tool for the development of the municipality.

This is included in the budgets, "said the mayor.

In addition to the implementation of aid and tax exemptions, employers have requested other actions such as reducing payment time to suppliers, something that is already working.

“The average payment to suppliers in January and February was between 15 and 20 days, in December it was 5 days.

Still, we will try to continue reducing it to provide companies with the liquidity they so badly need, "said Noelia Arroyo.

For his part, the Councilor for Trade, Manuel Padín, explained that he is already working on the launch of a campaign to encourage trade and that he is looking for the formula to bring the Trade Council together electronically to analyze the situation. and collect concrete proposals to face the crisis.

The mayor and the entrepreneurs have called for a new meeting shortly to analyze the measures to be adopted and the feasibility of some proposals.
