The Board of Spokespersons of the Cartagena City Council, which met last Tuesday under the chairmanship of the mayor, Ana Belén Castejón, unanimously decided to accept the offer of farmers to the municipal government to carry out disinfection work with their tractors in the deputations.
With this initiative, farmers would complement the disinfection tasks that the City Council regularly carries out.
In fact, the City Council has already disinfected all the councils with staff from the Cleaning and Garden contracts, who have carried out cleanings in urban furniture and common areas.
However, the work of the farmers will contribute to intensify these tasks, especially in the agricultural areas of the municipality, since they could walk the streets and roads of the councils, disinfecting both the environment and the surface.
The farmers presented their offer of collaboration to the Government Team and also to the opposition groups, such as Movimiento Ciudadano, as explained by their spokesperson, José López.
“We appreciate the work of our farmers, who in times of crisis are always a benchmark and help us to overcome them, but who, on this occasion, also support us by exceeding their own responsibilities by offering to contribute to the work of disinfection.
I also want to thank the collaboration of all the opposition groups from the first moment that this health crisis broke out â€, highlighted Ana Belén Castejón.
The mayor recalled that disinfection tasks have been carried out since the State of Alarm was declared.
"I want to thank everyone who is collaborating in these efforts.
From the personnel of the municipal contractors, to firefighters, the Army, Forest Brigades ... In short, a large number of professionals who are contributing with their work to make the spread of the virus in our municipality as small as possible.
The work of the farmers will reinforce the work that we have already been doing â€, indicated Castejón.
Disinfection work
Lhicarsa has used disinfectant products in critical areas where there may be a greater risk of contamination (containers, access to food establishments, pharmacies, health centers, hospitals, etc.).
In addition, the use of blow molding machines has been temporarily abolished, fumigation packs have been acquired for disinfection work at critical points or especially, and the use of flushing cisterns, pressure-cleaning vans, scrubbers has been intensified, adding in all cases disinfectant products.
The Jardines contractors have also joined this task, acting, with their own means, on urban furniture, benches, areas for pet walks, tree pits, areas of habitual pedestrian crossing or in places with a greater influx of people these days, such as pharmacies, food stores or health centers, always in coordination with Lhicarsa.
The Army and forest brigades have joined this task, cleaning common spaces such as bus or train stations, in addition to FEVE, public spaces or nursing homes, as the legion in the Asylum did last weekend.
On the other hand, Firefighters from the Cartagena City Council also collaborate in disinfection tasks.
In fact, last weekend they went to the various local police headquarters, located in La Azohía, Pozo Estrecho, Los Dolores, Plaza de la Merced, El Algar and Cabo de Palos, as well as the central offices of the agents in the Security Park, to disinfect the exterior areas and the interior common areas.
