Through the Gypsy Development Plan, the Cartagena City Council, together with the Abraham Project, carries out two community intervention projects in the Virgen de la Caridad and Villalba neighborhoods.
On the occasion of the International Day of the Gypsy People, in the Virgen de la Caridad neighborhood, the women of the neighborhood with great enthusiasm began to sew flags a few months ago, and since Tuesday they shine on the balconies of the Human Rights Plaza.
Today, April 8, and due to the time we have to live this year, we honor this day through this video made with more than 20 recordings that the neighbors have sent us.
In these community projects, a multidisciplinary team works with neighbors to improve their skills and opportunities that improve their lives.
Through different training workshops and activities in the community, the participants in these projects have had access to different resources that have allowed them to improve their quality of life.
Due to confinement, for almost a month all activities have been carried out electronically, changing the groups established for individual and family care.
We appreciate the unconditional collaboration of all the families who have participated so eagerly, the CEIP team of teachers, Stella Maris, Asoc. De Vecinos and the different groups that work in the area.
On this special day for the gypsy people from Proyecto Abraham we join with joy and respect, and we want to say: cheer up, we continue and we will continue working side by side, with all the neighbors, to face the hard and new challenges that this new one presents us stage, shaken by this pandemic.
Long live the Gypsy People!
