The Cartagena City Council has modified the Budget for the year 2020, before its approval tomorrow, Wednesday, increasing the amount allocated to the Contingency Fund by a total of 1,138,000 euros to combat the social and economic consequences after the health crisis, attending to the Contributions made by opposition groups, has informed the Deputy Mayor, Noelia Arroyo, who has insisted that "we want a consensus and flexible budget that allows us to quickly meet the needs of the sectors and groups most affected."
The intention of the local government is to approve the budget "as soon as possible" to "begin to apply the social and economic aid that the sector demands of us and to be in a position to reactivate economic activity as soon as the state of alarm ends."
This has been transferred by the vice mayor, Noelia Arroyo, to the presidents of CROEM and COEC, José María Albarracín and Ana Correa, in a videoconference held this Tuesday, which has served to report the increase in the game of the Contingency Fund of 343,000 euros to 1,138,000 euros and to know the main demands of economic agents to the City Council.
The Deputy Mayor stressed that "aid and support measures for the business fabric will be agreed with the sector starting next week" and celebrated that "some of the requested, such as specific plans for trade and hospitality, are already planned."
And that, while the health crisis lasts, the measures already adopted will be maintained, such as the postponement of the payment of the car seal for natural and legal persons and the bonus of the terrace fee.
Finally, Arroyo recalled that "the City of Cartagena is going to mobilize 18 million euros in investments and that we are still waiting for the Government of Spain to unblock one hundred percent of the 2019 surplus in order to have 3 million euros more for social assistance â€.
The Budget for the year 2020 amounts to a total of 213,729,000 euros, 4,800,000 more than the year 2019.
