The Cartagena company Grupo Casa Tomás has also wanted to join the Special Social Emergency device, which the Cartagena City Council has launched during the State of Alarm, with the donation of 1,000 kilos of food.
Thus, in the early hours of the morning of this April 7, the owners have deposited food in the Central Sports pavilion, which has become a logistics center since the device began operating.
The mayor, Ana Belén Castejón, thanked the Casa Tomás group for their solidarity.
“Thank you from the bottom of my heart to Clemente and José David Acosta for your great generosity, for helping us make life a little easier for many people whose situation has been aggravated by this health crisis.
If there is something that we have learned in these hard weeks, it is that the solidarity of the people of Cartagena is immense and that will make us come out of it more united and stronger, ”said Castejón.
This food will be distributed this week by soldiers from the Tercio de Levante, Civil Protection volunteers and municipal workers, among the families in the municipality who need it most.
The officials of the Cartagena City Council and volunteers from the Food Bank are carrying out the count of the new food collections and donations, their storage and classification to facilitate distribution on the established days for large deliveries that, despite being a holiday this week , will continue to be on Thursdays.
