It is known that the budgets for 2020 may possibly be approved by the government coalition, from VOX we believe that these accounts do not respond to the current needs of Cartagena to get out of this crisis and therefore we have presented an amendment to the entirety.
These are expansive budgets that mean more taxes, more public spending and more waste, or what is the same: less savings, less investment and less employment.
These budgets do not contain any measure to alleviate the economic suffocation to which thousands of families, freelancers and companies in our city are being subjected, nor do they include sufficient social aid for those most in need.
From VOX Cartagena we propose a series of IAE bonuses and municipal fees for the economic sectors most affected by the mandatory stop, as well as a freeze on the IBI for all taxpayers, in addition to a bonus in the municipal daycare rate for working families with children.
And to set an example of austerity and solidarity with those most affected, we propose that the councilors and other political positions of the City Council do not receive the extra payment for the month of July, at the same time that wages are frozen at 2019 levels, instead of the increase that the municipal government proposes.
Budgets should not be approved without first undertaking a Fiscal Contingency Plan and an Unnecessary Spending Reduction Plan that inspire municipal accounts.
