The municipal government will add to the fight against the crisis another 800,000 euros from tourism promotion programs and from the budget of La Mar de Músicas, a festival that has been suspended due to the impossibility of guaranteeing the planned international movements in safety conditions.
The festival's government and technical office have confirmed that, although the program has been designed for months, international health limitations are preventing the musicians, plastic artists, writers and filmmakers invited to this festival, which this year was dedicated to the Dominican Republic, from closing their commitments. .
The same uncertainty makes it advisable to adjust spending on tourism promotion to the foreseeable reduction in the flow of travelers, in the opinion of the Government.
For this reason, 200,000 euros from the tourism promotion item will be transferred to the contingency plan, an item that will cover the needs of companies affected by the tourism crisis.
These adjustments will be proposed as an amendment to the municipal budget during the plenary session scheduled for this Wednesday.
"It is the first time that a government presents allegations to its own budget and this shows that we propose a flexible document capable of adapting because the essential thing is to respond quickly to the needs of the crisis," said the Councilor for Finance, Esperanza Nieto. .
The head of the budget recalled that "we have another 3 million euros saved by the City Council that the central government has to decide whether to let us use against the coronavirus."
