The Municipal Volunteer Association of Cartagena is carrying out all kinds of actions during the state of Alarma and, collaborating to help anyone in need during this stage.
The tasks that we can highlight as an example are: Collaboration in the transfer of homeless people to places for their confinement, in the distribution of food within the Social Emergency operation that is being carried out by the Cartagena City Council, or in the distribution of medicines to those who need it as well as medical supplies to hospital centers.
In total, this Civil Protection team, made up of a dozen volunteers and three service officials, has performed more than 2,270 hours since the state of Alarma began.
In collaboration with Social Services, they manage urgent aid with the aim of assisting the most vulnerable people who need it most.
Their voices also reach neighborhoods and county councils throughout the municipality of Cartagena, warning the population, by public address system and in different languages, so that they comply with the confinement that the state of Alarm requires.
"It is important to highlight the work being carried out by the team of Civil Protection volunteers since their help has become essential in these weeks.
They provide a daily service, from nine in the morning until nine at night, with the aim of bringing help to everyone who needs it, "said the mayor of Citizen Security, Juan Pedro Torralba.
