The mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón, has congratulated all the people of Cartagena and Cartagena on the Big Day of the Municipality, and has invited them to relive from their homes the most intense moments of the Easter processions that would have started this morning, with the departure of the first penitential procession in Spain: that of Cristo del Socorro.

Since the confinement forced by the coronavirus crisis, which makes the city live a Friday of Sorrows and a special Easter, Castejón has had words of encouragement for the Holy and Royal Hospital of Charity, ensuring that the municipal subsidy that should to have received this morning in the Offering of the Ounce of Gold, and that will be celebrated later when the measures of the state of alarm are lifted.

The mayor recalled that the municipal website will offer the retransmission of the songs of the Salve Cartagenera from the door of Santa María that will open ten days of Holy Week in Cartagena for the imaginary exit of the parades and that will serve for the citizens can sing it in unison from the balconies of their homes, in honor of the patron saint of the Virgen de la Caridad.
