His name is Jesús Miranda, he is an Architect from the Polytechnic University of Cartagena (UPCT) and he has managed in one day to mobilize dozens of people on the Internet to get material so that the makers of the UPCT can continue printing 3D material to protect the sanitary against coronavirus.
To do this, it has used the non-profit association that it created together with a group of friends a few years ago to make solidarity challenges and help disadvantaged groups, called 'My corner of the terrace'.
Through it, he published a message on social networks, which has also been disseminated through WhatsApp, to ask for help to supply material to the volunteers who belong to the FABLAB group of the UPCT and who participate together with makers from all over Spain. in the AIRE initiative (Innovative Help to Create Respirators).
"I created the publication at 12 noon and at midnight we had already obtained 120 reels to continue printing in 3D," says the young man.
Miranda explains that those interested in contributing their grain of sand should communicate it to them through the email address mirinconcicodelbancal@upct.es.
They will reply to the email indicating the material they need and where it can be purchased, "more than anything to avoid mistakes on the type of reels, etc.", he explains, adding that a physical address for the UPCT has been enabled so that they can send them the material.
He assures that the initiative is getting a great mobilization by different groups.
An example of this is a group of Marist teachers gathered more than 105 people who donated 10 euros each and managed to acquire 50 reels for the cause or the legion of the People of Massalia, from Carthaginians and Romans, also acquired about 40 reels for donate them to the UPCT.
“Until now we were printing with what we had at home, but there comes a time when the material runs out.
The truth is that people are turning to help us get more material, "he says, adding that if they had material left over, they would also begin distributing it to the rest of the makers who are participating in the project.
