Fifty people, between soldiers from the Tercio de Levante and City Council workers, started the Social Emergency Operation on the morning of Thursday, March 26, distributing food to more than 800 people in the municipality of Cartagena.
The operation, which has been formed by 3 trucks and a light car from the Tercio de Levante;
two vans of the Naval Police;
two vans from the City Council and three private vehicles, the distribution began at 9:30 am in Los Dolores;
the Barrio de la Concepción and the Old Town.
Subsequently, he moved to San Antón, around 11 am, and to the Ensanche, at 12 noon.
The neighbors have received the members of the operation to applause.
Although the distribution points were located in the aforementioned neighborhoods, the population from all areas of influence has been attended to, and this afternoon, the volunteers of the City Council will continue to distribute to the Cartagena deputations, since as they are isolated nuclei it is not necessary the collaboration of the military.
In fact, this afternoon the distribution begins in Los Nietos, El Algar, El Llano del Beal and Playa Honda, and the rest of the deputations will take place tomorrow.
“The device has worked perfectly.
Citizens have been summoned in groups of eight every half hour so that they can maintain safe distances.
The distribution has been agile and effective.
Even the Civil Protection volunteers have helped the neighbors who carried large lots because they had a large family and who could not move them alone to their homes, "said the mayor, Ana Belén Castejón.
