The Department of Culture and Archaeological Heritage of the City of Cartagena today informed the General Directorate of Cultural Property of the Autonomous Community of the fall of a piece of the Wall of Carlos III, on the Rambla de Benipila.
The event occurred this morning as a result of the incessant rain and the strong wind and has affected a part of the fortification canvas, at the exit of the bridge that gives access to the Navantia factory and to the road to the Christmas Lighthouse.
The communication has been made by municipal archaeologists to the Archeology Unit of the General Directorate of Cultural Assets, who has learned of the fact, in order to require the Heritage Unit of the Ministry of Defense, owner of that section of the Wall. , so that it adopts the necessary measures so that new collapses do not occur and, where appropriate, proceed to repair them.
