José López: "This is not a time for opportunism, so we ask you to give us the fine print to work together on the final document, which must address the crisis and recovery, knowing where we come from and that the objective is Cartagena"
After studying the project of the General Budget for the year 2020 of the Cartagena City Council, which was facilitated by the local Government on March 20, the MC Cartagena Municipal Group has observed numerous information gaps and inconsistencies regarding the announcements made by the Executive dates back.
For this reason, the Cartagena formation has requested today to the Mayor's Office to be provided "the explanatory report to said draft budget, as well as the proposal for the application of the 2019 surplus".
In addition, MC has requested that a working meeting be held with the municipal government to deal with these issues, to be carried out under the technical conditions that are feasible given the current circumstances.
In light of this issue, the municipal spokesman for MC Cartagena, José López, has reported that "these days we have analyzed the documents that the Government sent us announcing that it was a consensus budget adapted to the health crisis."
However, he added that "we have verified that the announced figures do not correspond to the documents, there are no concrete measures to deal with the crisis, despite the fact that they were announced after MC presented an ambitious battery of proposals to help families, to the self-employed and SMEs ".
MC reiterates its will to work together in a useful tool
López has continued reporting that "there is also a lack of 4 million euros of investments and a large part of the items announced for social care."
Given this, he has revealed that "we are concerned that they have remained in the announcement, and that is why we have reiterated in writing our willingness to work together in a useful tool."
For the Cartagena mayor, "it is not a time of opportunism, but of politics in capital letters, and for this reason we ask them to give us the fine print of the budget and provide us with proposals to apply the surplus."
"We are confident of finding in them the ambitious amounts for social policies and many of the announced works, since we do not believe that projects have been sold that will not be carried out in a time that requires more than ever realities," explained.
Referring to the request made by MC to the Government for the holding of a work meeting, he indicated that "we have also asked them to work together on the final document, which must address the crisis and recovery, knowing where we come from and that the objective is Cartagena ".
"We cannot leave Cartagena behind or give up priority issues such as health, decontamination and recovery of the ecosystem, road safety or sustainable mobility; nor can the much-needed exchange of knowledge with the UPCT cease," he concluded, stating José López.
