The City Council of Cartagena has launched a device that will allow meals to be delivered to children benefiting from school canteen scholarships, in addition, the service will be extended to every day of the week and not only to working days that they were attended with the financing of the Ministry of Family, has informed the vice mayor, Noelia Arroyo, head of the Social Services Area.
The service begins with 571 users, will remain operational as long as the health crisis continues and the City of Cartagena will pay expenses that exceed the amount of regional scholarships for doing the service every day and at home.
Arroyo has highlighted "the effort and commitment of the officials of the Department of Social Services, who have designed the service in record time with the help of the Department of Education to identify and locate the addresses of the students."
The process is still ongoing and in the next few hours the last school children who are still to be located will be added to the list of users.
The operation, which begins today with the distribution of a meal, has been activated with the collaboration of a catering that has sufficient capacity and offers health guarantees, which has already been shown in the distribution of food to the elderly and people with disabilities for the City Council.
The service will guarantee a daily meal to users and food will be served on Fridays on weekend days.
The school canteen program aims to guarantee the feeding of especially vulnerable children due to their economic and family circumstances.
