The passenger transport lines in the municipality of Cartagena today maintain their frequencies and schedules to guarantee access to the public service and promote the maintenance of safety distances within the buses.
Based on these two premises, the Cartagena City Council, together with the concessionaire company, ALSA, study possible adjustments in public transport through the data that is being collected on the evolution of uses by citizens in the face of the health emergency decreed by the central government on the occasion of the COVID-19 crisis.
The Councilor for Infrastructures, María Casajús, explained that the concessionaire company is applying the protocol on public transport in the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia, "hygiene measures have been exceeded, a safety distance has been established with the driver prohibiting the use of the first seats of the buses and the transport will only be able to occupy in a third of his capacity ”.
Disinfecting wipes, individual gels have been provided to drivers and dispensers of disinfecting gels have been distributed in offices, workshops and points of sale to guarantee hygiene and safety measures.
As for the vehicles, a daily cleaning is being carried out, in accordance with the recommendations established by the Ministry of Health.
In addition, all buses have informative signs where the measures that passengers must comply with are observed, complying with the safety distance of one and a half meters.
Casajús has reported that since the state of alarm, road traffic in Cartagena has been reduced by 60 percent.
This data is important to continue maintaining public transport and guarantee that citizens can access their jobs and basic services.
