The Chinese merchant community has given the Local Police of Cartagena some 2,000 masks, 800 gloves and disinfecting gel, as material destined to protect themselves from the spread of the coronavirus, between Sunday, March 15, in several Chinese shops in Cartagena, and this Monday 16, at the central warehouse that the Chinese community has in the municipality of Murcia and on Paseo Alfonso XXIII in Cartagena.
In addition, the agents have escorted and accompanied Chinese merchants in the transport of a good number of masks and gloves, which they have also donated to the Saint Lucia Hospital.
The Police will also deliver about 100 masks to the Cartagena Bar Association to serve detainees on duty.
The Councilor for Citizen Security, Juan Pedro Torralba, wanted to thank on behalf of the Cartagena City Council "the enormous gesture of solidarity that the Chinese community of the Region of Murcia has had".
He notes that "acts like this demonstrate the best face of human beings who, in the face of adversity, unite and support each other in an exemplary manner."
With this donation of gloves, masks and gels, Local Police officers, health personnel and lawyers will be able to work and carry out their work with greater security guarantees.
