The Board of Brotherhoods of Holy Week in Cartagena has decided to suspend the passionate parades next April, due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The decision has been officially communicated this afternoon to the mayor, Ana Belén Castejón.
The cancellation of the Easter processions in Cartagena joins others that have been taking place during the day, such as those in Murcia, Lorca and Puerto Lumbreras.
The four Cartagena brotherhoods, shortfin mako, Californios, resurrected and relief, had agreed a few days ago to suspend their acts of Lent, until March 31, three days before Friday of Dolores, the big day in Cartagena and on which he should leave their first show.
The processions of the Holy Week in Cartagena are declared of International Tourist Interest and bring together tens of thousands of faithful and visitors, who attend their massive parades.
