Tomorrow, Thursday, March 12, the ordinary Plenary Session of the Municipal Neighborhood Board of La Palma will take place in which MC Cartagena will promote various initiatives aimed at improving the infrastructure, communications and road safety of this council, among other issues.
Among the initiatives promoted by MC is to increase the frequency of bus schedules that make the journey from Pozo Estrecho to Cartagena, since there is an absence of service between 6:30 am and 8:00 am, as well as on schedule in the afternoon between 13:30 and 16:30 in the opposite direction between Cartagena and Pozo Estrecho.
As explained by the MC member, María Antonia Pérez, the main victims are both the elderly who have a medical consultation in Cartagena, and the young students, many of them minors, who have to wait up to an hour for the start of their classes, as well as to return home.
This same motion also includes the need for a full-time pediatrician, as one of the two current professionals shares half a day with La Palma.
Another of the issues mentioned refers to correcting the lack of road signs, especially when leaving school.
For all this, MC will require that the Plenary Meeting of the La Palma Neighborhood Board urge the local government to include in the next municipal budgets the necessary items to guarantee a comprehensive Action Plan in La Palma.
Road safety and street lighting
In terms of road safety, the deficiencies presented by the bridge at the height of the Los Siles neighborhood and the beginning of the road to Los Balanzas, the suppression of the level crossing of Pozo Estrecho and La Palma, will be remedied. as the need to repaint the crosswalks of this population.
Likewise, the installation of public lighting in the place of Los Lorcas will be demanded, either in charge of the municipal budget of 2020 or of the Neighborhood Board itself.
Cleaning of lots and market
Likewise, and given the poor state of almost thirty lots in La Palma that accuse a state of abandonment and unhealthiness, MC will be interested in knowing if there is an inventory of lots and if the Department of Health has open files and notified to their owners to Let them perform their cleaning.
In the same way, the vocalist of the Cartagena formation, María Antonia Pérez, will also propose that the Presidency of the Neighborhood Board convene the different groups of La Palma, as well as the spokespersons of the groups that make up this Board for a consultative meeting to study the possibility of changing the location of the weekly market.
This initiative responds to the concern expressed by groups and individuals in the face of the problems caused by the current location on Manuel Bobadilla Street, an enclave in which health and educational services are located, as well as being a connection to the west of the population.
