The PSOE in Cartagena has met with members of the educational community of IES El Bohío who have transferred their outrage before this crazy decision
The PSOE of Cartagena has met with members of the educational community of IES El Bohío.
We have moved their concern and deep discomfort at the decision of the Ministry of Education, through the responsible of transportation, to suspend the school transportation service for students residing in the area of the Latin American Neighborhood.
This measure is absolutely inadmissible and affects all new students of the next course who will have to move to the center by their own means.
We have known the indignation of families for the disorder that this may cause and their firm willingness to take the necessary actions to defend their rights.
It seems to us an incompressible measure that produces tension in the affected families because it condemns their children, many of whom are only 12 years old, to walk alone on streets with little traffic to reach the school.
A far-fetched measure that threatens the freedom of choice of center and goes against a rational criterion.
Meanwhile, the Regional Government continues to be kidnapped by ultra-right policies that do not believe in public education, squandering public money in disastrous projects such as the Descombreras desalination plant or Corvera Airport, and cutting back on fundamental services for the neighbors of the Cartagena municipality.
The Cartagena Socialists suspect that the suspension of school transportation for this important group of students could be due to interests outside public education.
We believe that this type of action can be part of a premeditated regional government strategy to empty public centers, so that families have no choice but to enroll their children in non-public centers that offer transportation facilities.
The PSOE in Cartagena will transfer the outrage of the neighbors to the Regional Assembly where the Socialist Parliamentary Group will present several initiatives to be interested in this matter and demand the withdrawal of this measure that would only contribute to the suffering of families.
Finally, the Cartagena PSOE will demand the reverse of the Ministry of Education in the application of a decision as damaging as this for many families.
We will continue to ensure the interests of all Cartagena, regardless of where they reside, protecting their rights.
