Throughout the month of March, the semifinals of the 23rd edition of the “Between Strings and Metals” Contest will take place in the Auditorium of the Music Conservatory of Cartagena, beginning this Thursday 12, starting at 5:00 p.m., with the modality of rope.

Admission is free until capacity is reached.

This edition of the contest, which is organized by the Department of Youth of the City of Cartagena together with the Conservatory, has the participation of students from all the conservatories of the Region of Murcia: Cartagena, Murcia, Lorca, Caravaca, Cieza, San Javier, Molina de Segura and Jumilla.

The Councilor for Youth, David Mart�nez, stressed that this year “we will enjoy the talent of the 188 young people who have presented themselves wanting to demonstrate everything they have learned, welcoming the new specialties of pick and harp, including as a novelty the Pulsed Rope mode ”.

The young contestants are distributed as follows: 16 in string, 19 in pulsed string, 15 in piano, 7 in voice, 43 in woodwind, 23 in metalwind, 15 in percussion, and 13 groups in chamber music with 50 participants.

The Awards Ceremony and the Closing Concert, which will take place on April 30, at 8:00 p.m., at the El Batel Municipal Auditorium, with free and free admission until full capacity is reached, is where the verdict will be announced of the jury in each of the modalities of the contest.

It will feature the performance of the winning group in Chamber Music from the last edition of Entre Cuerdas y Metales, the duo consisting of: Mario Mu�oz �lvaro (percussion) and Adri�n Jos� Carreto Crespo (saxophone).

Closing the 23rd edition of Entre Cuerdas y Metales, which this year is dedicated to Ludwig van Beethoven, will be the Orchestra of the Conservatory of Music of Cartagena, under the direction of Gin�s Mart�nez Vera, performing the Egmont Overture and the I movement of the Eighth Symphony of Beethoven.
