Cartagena hosted this March 8, International Women's Day, a massive demonstration attended by a thousand people to fight for equality with hundreds of banners in which you could read claims about women's rights.
The demonstration was led by the women's association of Cartagena Clara Campoamor, with a large purple banner in which the word "equality" was written.
In addition, other feminist groups and entities of the city also participated, among which women of other ethnicities such as the gypsies were represented, who came with a shirt whose emblem was "For you and for my cousins ​​feminist Gypsies."
The protesters left from the Plaza de España and toured the streets of Carmen, Puerta de Murcia and Mayor, to finish at the Plaza del Ayuntamiento, where a manifesto was read, before all attendees, for equality between men and women
The protest march was attended by members of the municipal government, including the mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón, the deputy mayor, Manuel Padín, the councilor for Equality, David Martínez, the councilor for Citizen Security, Juan Pedro Torralba, the councilor of Education, Irene Ruiz and the councilor of the special delegation of Transparency, Alejandra Gutiérrez.
Also present were members of the municipal corporation Arantxa Pérez, María José Soler, Jesús Giménez, Pilar Marcos and Aurelia García, among others.
