UPCT teachers are involved in the 'Invisible Voices' project, starring Colombian women in conflict zone The development of cybersecurity tools allows the creation of a work of art7.March.2020.- Teachers of the 'Teleco' School of UPCT is part of an interdisciplinary and international team that works together to carry out the project of artistic creation "Invisible Voices".

The development of cybersecurity tools allows women protagonists of creative research to continue maintaining their anonymity and not endangering their lives. For the implementation of this initiative the involvement of the Telematics Engineering professors of the UPCT has been decisive Rafa Asorey, Antonio Javier García Sánchez and Joan Garcia Haro, responsible for incorporating the elements of cybersecurity.

As Professor Asorey explains, "we have developed the entire deployment of communications and information storage infrastructure that guarantees the anonymity of women and, ultimately, allows the creation of the work of art." The testimonies, which review Vital experiences throughout 60 years of armed conflict, are part of the "Memory, victims and representation of the Colombian conflict" investigation funded by the British Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) and in which teams have worked research from universities such as the British Kingston in London and Liverpool, that of Santiago de Cali and the Pedagogical and Technological of Tunja, in Colombia, and the Polytechnic of Cartagena. The testimonies of these women narrate situations of extreme violence, sexual abuse and experiences during periods in which they were forced to join the armed guerrillas.

Now, "all these testimonies are valuable for organizations dedicated to the rescue of collective memory, but it is necessary to guarantee their anonymity and facilitate their full re-entry into society," explains Rafael Asorey. In addition, UPCT professors participate by teaching the diploma course in "Human rights, memory and peace building in Colombia", which takes place over 120 hours and is aimed at women victims of the Colombian conflict.

The diploma is organized by the Feminisms, Genres and Human Rights Research Group of the Pedagogical and Technological University of Colombia. Finally, the professors of the UPCT School of Telecommunications are part of the organization of a congress to be held in Liverpool during next October, about victims of armed conflicts in Latin America.
