The Local Police of Cartagena has opened late this afternoon the streets of Aire and Cuatro Santos to the traffic, after they have been closed almost a week as a result of the landslides produced in a building.
A municipal architect of the area of Mayor's Office, Urban Planning, Housing and European Projects, has verified in situ that the company that owns the property had adopted the necessary security measures, to allow the passage of vehicles and pedestrians while the interior demolition of the building continues.
In its report it is confirmed that the precautionary measures established by the City Council have already been executed, such as the mincing of the party that presented a risk of detachment;
the partial demolition of the attic plant;
and cleaning and clearing of the rubble generated from the building.
These have been completed with others such as the perimeter fence to the Calle del Aire 2 building, including the lot attached to it for the passage of vehicles and a protection scaffold to ensure the safety of pedestrians traveling along Cuatro Santos street in the proximity of the building.
With this, the City Council responds to the requirements of neighbors, merchants and hoteliers who had been affected by the cut of this two street, since last Sunday when the fall of the first rubble was recorded.
Being a building in the Roman Theater and protected its facade with grade three, the City Council has had to manage the prior authorization of the Ministry of Culture to take measures to prevent new landslides and request the interior demolition of the same, by part of the company that owns the property.
The interior demolition of the property will continue but with the streets open to traffic, with the aim that its facades are completed and underpinned before Dolores Friday.
